RAE Systems to make chemical detectors for Justice Dept.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 1, 2004. RAE Systems Inc. today announced that it has won a $1.3 million contract for chemical detection monitors from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Department of Justice purchased RAE Systems' MultiRAE Plus, which combines a photoionization detector (PID), for VOC detection, with the standard four gases of a confined space monitor (O2, LEL, and two toxic gas sensors).

The MultiRAE Plus can be used as a handheld, personal protection device, or can be integrated into deployable wireless AreaRAE networks for real time monitoring and decision making. With more than 10,000 units in the field today, the MultiRAE Plus have made it the sensing solution of choice for many of the highest profile HazMat/WMD teams in the United States.

"First responder organizations from federal agencies to local municipalities across the U.S. continue to turn to RAE Systems as the de facto standard for their toxic gas and radiation monitoring and sensing needs," said Robert I. Chen, CEO of RAE Systems. "Whether used for personal protection or deployed in wireless networks for indoor air security or public venues, the MultiRAE provides the data that enables life-saving decisions."

RAE Systems is a leading global developer and manufacturer of rapidly deployable, multi-sensor chemical detection monitors and networks for homeland security and industrial applications.
