Green Hills Software to Support Intel Network Processor

San Francisco, April 23, 2003. Green Hills Software will support the Intel IXP425 network processor with its Integrity real-time operating system (RTOS). For the first time, application developers now have a high performance RTOS integrated with the industry leading MULTI integrated development environment (IDE) and optimizing C/C++ compilers to develop and deploy their network-enabled products using WAN and LAN technologies for small-to-medium enterprises.

"We have seen phenomenal response to our IXP4XX product line in high-end gateway, voice over IP, wireless access points, industrial control, medical and networked imaging applications," said Jim Finnegan, general manager, Intel Network Processor Division. "With Green Hills Software products and technology now tailored for the Intel IXP425 network processor, developers have an optimized, royalty-free development solution that both reduces time-to-market and cost-to-deploy."

Integrity is a modern, royalty-free RTOS that is optimized for Intel XScale technology, and well suited for applications based on the Intel IXP425 network processor that require high performance, high reliability, and a cost-effective business model.

Integrity enhances reliability and determinism by never disabling interrupts during any system call while providing applications guaranteed access to the CPU and memory for critical tasks. It prevents errant or malicious code from corrupting user and kernel objects. Other RTOS solutions do not offer this protection or security, leaving systems vulnerable to failure from errant application code, viruses, and hackers.

The Intel IXP425 network processor is a highly integrated, versatile single-chip processor that can be used in a variety of products that need network connectivity and high performance to run their unique WAN and LAN applications. It is powered by the Intel XScale RISC core running at up to 533 MHz and offers integrated hardware acceleration of popular cryptography algorithms, three IPSec-enabled Network Processor Engines, two high-speed serial ports for VoIP SLIC/CODEC or T1/E1 and associated DSP software, two integrated 10/100 Base-T Ethernet MACs, UTOPIA 2 interface with multiple ADSL/G.SHDSL or VDSL support, USB version 1.1 device controller, 33/66 MHz PCI v2.2 host and low system power consumption (1.0 -1.5 Watt typical).
