CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 3 Sept. 2007. GE Fanuc Embedded Systems in Charlottesville, Va., is offering the SBC310 3U VPX single-board computer with the Freescale dual-core PowerPC 8641D microprocessor, as well as support for a PMC/XMC site.
With as much as 1 gigabyte of SDRAM, the SBC310 is the tenth member of the GE Fanuc family of VPX products. The SBC310 is optionally available in five ruggedization levels for deployment in harsh operating environments.
"The market has been very quick to embrace the VPX architecture because of the substantial benefits it brings in terms of maximum performance, minimum space and optimum robustness and reliability for demanding applications, such as those in defense and aerospace," says Peter Cavill, general manager of military and aerospace products at GE Fanuc.
The SBC310 features two 4-lane PCI Express ports across the backplane, providing high speed data communication to other system elements. It also provides several high-speed interfaces for off-board communication, including two 10/100/1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and a Serial ATA disk interface.
The board supports legacy interfaces, including two RS232 ports and four general-purpose I/O lines. It also uses state of the art cooling technology to so that designers can fit a PMC or XMC without compromising processor node performance.
