MONROVIA, Calif. -- Leaders of data storage systems designer Metrum-Datatape of Monrovia, Calif., changed the company's name to Sypris Data Systems Inc. Jan. 1.
The former Metrum-Datatape designs data-acquisition products for telemetry, intelligence, and airborne applications. Company officials say they changed the name to unify the four major subsidiaries of Sypris Solutions under the corporate brand.
"During our 60-year history, Sypris Data Systems' products have played a vital role in data acquisition for aircraft, spacecraft, satellite, shipboard, commercial and geological applications," says Darrell Robertson, president and chief executive officer of Sypris Data Systems.
"An important focus of our current product development effort is using disk and solid-state recording technologies," Robertson says. "We are also excited about our recent breakthrough that features a powerful scaleable architecture in a series of products capable of a broad range of individual and aggregate bandwidths, input channels and storage capacities."
Sypris Data Systems specializes in the research, development, and manufacture of high-performance telemetry technologies for data acquisition, storage, and information dissemination. The company also provides customized packaging of recorders and reproducers for unique customer missions and environmental needs using original technologies and off-the-shelf components.
