Signal Corporation to provide knowledge management for U.S. Army program

WASHINGTON -- Information technology experts from the U.S. Army in Washington needed knowledge management and technical support to help the Army to transform itself into a network-centric, knowledge-based force. They found their solution from Signal Corporation of Fairfax, Va.

Signal Corporation of Fairfax, Va., won a task order Jan. 29 to provide knowledge management and technical support to the Department of the Army, Office of the Director of Information Systems for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (ODISC4) in the Pentagon.

The 7-year $25 million contract came from the GSA Millennia Lite Functional Area 4 - Legacy Systems Migration and New Enterprise Systems Development contract.

Signal experts design and install computer systems to enable Army leaders to meet the goals of the Army Knowledge Management (AKM) strategic plan. AKM is part of a larger initiative of the Army's to transform itself into a network-centric, knowledge-based force. The Army Knowledge Management Strategic Plan identifies five AKM goals.

Signal also is maintaining the Information Technology Systems Registration initiative for the Army.
