MARCH 1, 09:00 EST FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Quantum3D, Inc. announced at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Winter Symposium that General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has selected the Quantum3D Ventana PCI 4210, a new, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) graphics subsystem based on the recently announced NVIDIA Quadro4 graphics technology, for the new U.S. Army Brigade Combat Team Armored Vehicle Embedded Training Module.
The Quantum3D Ventana PCI 4210 graphics subsystem will be used as an add-in to General Dynamics' Single Board Computer based Embedded Training Module to provide high-performance, multi-channel synthetic environment video and graphics output. U.S. Army Transformation Forces will now be able to conduct precision gunnery and unit-level tactical training exercises, powered by Quantum3D's Ventana graphics subsystem, and displayed on the vehicle's flat panel displays.
Both the new armored vehicle and Quantum3D's Ventana will be on display in General Dynamic's booth #123, and Quantum3D's booth #527 at the AUSA Winter Symposium in Florida, February 27-28, 2002.
The Ventana PCI 4210 is Quantum3D's first NVIDIA GPU-based single-board, multi-channel graphics subsystem for visual simulation and training, as well as embedded training applications. The Ventana PCI 4210 is designed for Windows-based OpenGL 1.2 and DirectX 8.0 applications where high-performance, multiple-channel 2D/3D graphics and/or video output from PICMG and PCI-based systems is essential. To provide high performance within this environment, Ventana employs dual Quadro4 GPUs in a unique PCI bridge-chip architecture coupled with NVIDIA nView technology that enables the subsystem to drive up to four channels of RGB (analog or DVI digital) output from a single PCI bus slot.
Ventana PCI is available in two models: a basic model with 32MB per GPU with 33 MHz PCI operation, and an advanced model that features 66 MHz PCI support with 64MB of graphics memory per GPU and support for nVSync. Quantum3D's nVSync is patent-pending technology that provides precision synchronization of multiple NVIDIA Quadro4-based graphics subsystems for multiple-channel, wide field-of-view realtime training applications.
Ventana PCI models are available as components of Quantum3D's Graphite, Obsidian nV and AAlchemy PC-based image generators (PC-IGs) where they may be used to provide a low-cost, high-performance multi-channel capability that complements the existing primary graphics subsystems within the PC-IG. Specialized versions of Ventana PCI are available to OEM and systems integrators for volume applications, with set system configurations.
Quantum3D develops and markets integrated interactive PC-based 3D visual computing systems and software for the visual simulation and training market and realtime 2D/3D graphics subsystems and software for avionics, ground vehicle and other embedded visual computing applications.
Quantum3D is the exclusive supplier of NVIDIA graphics technology into the embedded visual computing market. Quantum3D's embedded visual computing offerings include the FARSIGHT nV program for custom form factor applications, and the Sentiris and Ventana embedded graphics subsystems for COTS form factor applications. Quantum3D is a privately held, venture-backed company headquartered in San Jose, Calif.
