WOODLAND HILLS , CA.--Vertel Corp., a provider of software solutions that manage and help run broadband, wireless and Internet networks, announced the availability of its e*ORB C Edition 2.0 software. The software is compliant with the latest Object Management Group (OMG) CORBA 2.4.2 minimum CORBA standards.
Vertel said the new software release is being tested by General Dynamics Decision Systems for applications in its digital signal processing (DSP) markets. DSPs are found in a wide range of products including high-end communication equipment such as software-defined radios (SDRs). SDRs are characterized by the ability to change services, features, quality of service parameters, and other attributes by changing the software residing within the radio. This allows service providers to offer additional capabilities quickly and cost-effectively without major upgrades to infrastructure or subscriber equipment.
"General Dynamics has been using an early version of the C ORB product for over three years to support real-time communication in our SDR products and other embedded environments," said Byron Tarver, a business development manager for General Dynamics Decision Systems. "This technology is a valuable component of our design approach which addresses real time distributed processing, stability and performance -- key drivers in the SDR and the JTRS (Joint Tactical Radio System) markets."
