JUNE 25, 2002, 10:30EDT VIENNA, Va. -- Tachyon, Inc., a provider of broadband satellite infrastructure and services that augment and extend terrestrial enterprise networks, has opened its new East Coast headquarters and Federal Systems Division in Tyson's Corner, VA. in the Washington, D.C. area.
Based in San Diego, CA, Tachyon, Inc. opened the Tyson's Corner office to better serve present and potential customers in the nation's government and military markets, where demand for broadband satellite technology is increasing as U.S. agencies and institutions look for ways to improve their high-speed networking capabilities on a global scale.
"The opening of our East Coast headquarters and Federal Systems Division marks an important milestone in Tachyon's corporate development," said Mark Gercenstein, Tachyon's President and CEO. "We have already been successful in meeting the needs of our existing government and military customers. Now we are better situated to expand the use of our broadband satellite networking products and services across a broader spectrum of the market."
With satellite capacity covering all of North America, Europe, parts of Northern Africa and the Middle East, Tachyon enables Global 2000 enterprises and government agencies and institutions to achieve uninterrupted broadband network access to maintain maximum business continuity. The company offers the fastest transmission speeds available, compared to other wireless or satellite alternatives, with data rates of up to 2Mbps. Network access is deployed quickly and easily to remote locations not reachable by traditional landlines, or as redundant service to a company's existing T1/E1, Frame Relay, ISDN or other terrestrial connections. The opening of the new East Coast facility comes following other important expansion milestones for Tachyon in the past six months. In March, the company launched an aggressive, new business development program emanating from Tachyon Europe B.V., its European headquarters office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Then, in April, Tachyon opened its new Canadian facility in Toronto.
In addition, the company has announced several key agreements this year including a development partnership with the Space Directorate, Space and Missile Defense Battle Lab (SMDBL), United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC). The agreement, announced in January, involves joint development of transportable products that leverage Tachyon, Inc.'s patented satellite technology, re-packaging it for rapid and mobile deployment using the expertise of the Directorate.
Last month, Tachyon introduced Mobile Network Access, a cost-effective Internet or enterprise network connectivity service for organizations that need transportable broadband network access. The system features a ruggedly designed satellite dish and compact carrying cases that make it transportable to any location, providing a solution for obtaining high-speed public or private network access for temporary field locations, special events, or even emergency response teams.
Tachyon, Inc. is a provider of broadband satellite infrastructure and service to augment and extend terrestrial enterprise networks. Tachyon's patented signal processing technology allows for the rapid deployment of high-speed network access to locations and regions not reachable by traditional landlines.
Through Tachyon, organizations gain built-in network redundancy and ubiquitous coverage, resulting in maximum business continuity. Tachyon is based in San Diego, California with an East Coast headquarters in Tyson's Corner, VA. and European headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
