JULY 10, 2002, 11:00EDT PRINCETON, N.J -- Pyramid Vision Technologies, a provider of video intelligence systems, has announced the availability of the Acadia Video-GPS, a real-time, fully-automatic video geo-positioning system for directing aerial military vehicles and improving tactical decision-making.
The system is being shown at PVT's Booth #426 at the AUVSI (Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International) Symposium being held through July 11 in Orlando, Florida. PVT is a Sarnoff Vision Company.
The portable system, which connects to UAV ground stations, places live video images from UAVs into geographical context, while simultaneously correcting poor video quality and broadening narrow views.
"Acadia Video-GPS automatically turns raw, narrow-view, shaky video into highly useful military intelligence that is easily viewable, with location data for all objects and features," says Deepam Mishra, Vice President for Marketing of PVT. "This is a major step forward. Personnel can now spend their time making better, faster decisions about the objects and situations identified in the live video, instead of spending their time figuring out where the subjects are located."
VideoGPS was designed to compensate for many of the common problems that plague video surveillance systems mounted in unmanned military vehicles -- lack of subject location/context, blur from camera vibration or subject motion, jumpy video, and rapidly changing lighting conditions -- via specialized software and state-of-the-art Acadia I vision processing chips, which deliver the power of a supercomputer to the new system. yVideoGPS allows defense contractors to add substantial value to the existing video capture units on manned and unmanned military vehicles.
Founded in 1997 as a venture company of Sarnoff Corporation, Pyramid Vision Technologies www.pyramidvision.com of Princeton, NJ is a developer of high-value video intelligence products based on Acadia I vision processing chips and software.
