SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 2, 2003--IXYS Corp. has been successful in penetrating strategic high power applications in military and other high reliability applications. IXYS sees significant growth opportunity in the continued upgrade of military aircraft and weapons systems utilizing older hydraulic control systems to more "energy efficient" and "smarter" systems utilizing electronic driven controls.
Some example applications using IXYS products include naval power systems, high power radar systems, avionic fly-by-wire systems and electronic controls for military vehicles.
IXYS has supported military and high-reliability applications for over two decades. With IXYS' continued growth in technology and capability from investments and acquisitions, IXYS' participation in these markets has increased, with growing demand for 'COTS' (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) power semiconductors and ICs, with products that meet the Military/Aerospace range of temperature operation without the high cost of Mil-Standard testing.
"Examples of IXYS' success include proprietary Clare ICs used in the Apache Attack Helicopter, Westcode high power devices for a naval radar system and power modules for an armored vehicle motor drive," commented Dan Schwob IXYS Senior VP of Marketing.
"In addition, IXYS supplies die products to other OEMs, including our competitors, for use in specialized military modules. We continue to see changes in the military market with growth in the use of standard, commercial high power products and ICs. IXYS is proud of its historical and future efforts in assisting the development and deployment of the advanced, effective systems needed by the military forces of the US and its allies."
