ARLINGTON, Va., and ORLANDO, Fla., October 8, 2003. Flight Explorer, a provider of Internet-based real-time flight tracking information, reporting and display products has agreed with Navigance Technologies Group of Tulsa, Oklahoma, that Flight Explorer will provide its aircraft situation display as part of Navigance's new "WiFli" solutions package.
Navigance has developed an integrated web-based system of technologies to serve the general aviation industry including fixed-base operators, air charter companies, other general aviation end users, as well as regional and smaller airports. The technology solution includes video surveillance, data gathering, biometric access control, wireless networking and communications for security and the delivery of information via the new "WiFli" network. Navigance has developed WiFli to be the national high-speed wireless "hot spot" network for general aviation.
Flight Explorer will team with Navigance to deliver its aircraft tracking and weather offerings integrated with their SAFE (Secure Aviation Facility Environment) System or the stand-alone WiFli network. Under the new agreement, users of SAFE and WiFli will be able to determine the position of aircraft, access data about the planes and receive information about weather conditions using the Flight Explorer service.
"Flight Explorer has been providing service to general aviation for years, and we are most excited about bringing this service to even more users through this creative wireless solution, complete with post 9/11 security," said Walt Kross, President and CEO of Flight Explorer.
Bob Jandebeur, President/CEO of Navigance, said, "The addition of Flight Explorer information enhances the Navigance WiFli network. It is the first of many web-based applications to be provided and will create a powerful tool for the aviation industry. We're very pleased to join with the team at Flight Explorer to make it available to our customers."
Flight Explorer, based in Arlington, VA, produces aircraft situation display systems. Utilizing extensive and expanding global data sources, Flight Explorer tracks flights in the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand and Pacific Oceanic region, and any aircraft worldwide via Honeywell datalink tracking, Iridium/GPS and others.
