ALPHARETTA, GA, November 5, 2003 -- L-3 Communications Display Systems (L-3 Display Systems), a division of L-3 Communications, has delivered the initial 17" color flat panel AMLCD-based displays for the E-2C Group II Enhanced Main Display Unit (EMDU) Upgrade Program, replacing the Cathode Ray Tube displays used on earlier versions of the EMDU.
Under the terms of this contract, L-3 Display Systems will deliver over 150 EMDUs during the life of the upgrade program. These next-generation EMDUs offer significant reduction in aircraft weight (reduced by 180 lb), reduced power, improved reliability and maintainability, higher resolution and brightness and improved life cycle costs. In addition, the EMDUs provide situational awareness information, including radar, identification-friend-or-foe and other tactical information.
