SANTA BARBARA, Calif., November 17, 2003. Green Hills Software has been selected by Honeywell to supply the operating system and development tools for Honeywell's future air transport integrated avionics. Honeywell will use Green Hills Software's ARINC-653-1 compliant INTEGRITY-178B RTOS to host its next generation of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) technology for air transport aircraft.
"Green Hills Software is pleased that Honeywell has selected our operating system to meet the demanding reliability and security requirements of the aerospace industry," said Dan O'Dowd, president of Green Hills Software. "INTEGRITY-178B uniquely satisfies the need for an operating system that provides robust partitioning, supplies real-time performance, and is backed by the Radio Technical Commission for Avionics' DO-178B Level A life-cycle data, all of which is supported by a reliable commercial RTOS supplier."
"Our air transport customers require robust systems that offer flexible functionality, maintainability and dispatch reliability," said Mel Doss, technical manager, Honeywell Aerospace Electronic Systems. "After evaluating a number of other commercial alternatives, we chose INTEGRITY-178B."
INTEGRITY's superior reliability, security features and product maturity have made it the RTOS of choice for a growing number of military and commercial aircraft, including the B-52, B-1B, C-17, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, F-16, Sikorsky S-92 helicopter, and Airbus A380. Whether applications are developed in Ada, C, C++ or a combination of all three, INTEGRITY-178B provides the most reliable, secure platform for hosting airborne software said O'Dowd.
