MONTREAL, Quebec, April 29, 2004. CMC Electronics Inc. will supply its global positioning system-based flight management system (GPS/FMS), known as the CMA-900, to the Brazilian Air Force for its fleet of C-130, B707, P-95 and Learjet-35 aircraft.
CMC Electronics was awarded the upgrade program in March 2004. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2004 and be completed by July 2005 for the twenty (20) aircraft involved in the program.
The Brazilian Air Force upgrade configuration provides for multi-sensor based navigation (including GPS and inertial) and incorporates tactical navigation and guidance. The C-130 and B707 aircraft will meet Precision Area Navigation (PRNAV) requirements providing effectively 100% dispatch reliability anywhere in the world, seamless navigation from take-off to final approach, and barometric altitude-based vertical guidance for non-precision approaches. The CMA-900 features a color, liquid-crystal multi-function display and includes CMC Electronics' industry-leading 12-channel GPS sensor.
"The selection of CMC Electronics' FMS is excellent news given the extremely thorough evaluation carried out by the Brazilian Air Force," said Bruce Bailey, CMC Electronics' vice president for commercial aviation. "The CMA-900 has an outstanding pedigree and we look forward to working closely with our valued new customer into the future."
The CMC Electronics CMA-900 has received more FAA and other national Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approvals than any competing product for the avionics upgrade of B747 Classic aircraft. The CMA-900 has also been successfully installed and integrated on a number of C-130 aircraft worldwide. With recent orders, the CMA-900 is now in service with over 60 airlines and military operators.
