PARIS, France, June 14, 2004. Harris Corporation, a leading supplier of secure, tactical radios for worldwide defense forces, today announced that it has been awarded a $6 million contract for Falcon II radios by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Defence.
Harris will provide its Falcon II high frequency (HF) radios in manpack and base station configurations to provide reliable, long-range communications with enhanced secure voice and data performance.
The Norwegian Armed Forces also will utilize the company's Wireless Message Terminal software package that integrates robust data transmission techniques with commercial-off-the- shelf (COTS) software. The radio's integrated network controller provides a seamless IP interface for fast and reliable information transfer across the tactical communications network.
NATO and Partnership for Peace (PfP) countries consult on national security issues and their forces interact frequently during combined military exercises and NATO-led peacekeeping missions. Many of these nations have standardized on Harris' Falcon II radios -- a move that has become increasingly important as countries seek communications interoperability for joint missions.
