HOOD RIVER, Ore., June 25, 2004. ANPC announced today that the Senate Appropriations Committee has awarded $12 million in discretionary defense funding for the continued development and improvement of mobile approach guidance systems for tactical military aircraft.
This comes as part of $103.5 in approved funding for Oregon-based defense projects, and ANPC would like to express sincere thanks to Senators Gordon Smith (R-OR) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) and to Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) for their untiring efforts in securing continued support for these mission-critical applications.
ANPC's Transportable Transponder Landing System, dubbed Rhino, is a precision guidance system that allows military aircraft of all types to safely land in austere environments and forward airfields under adverse weather conditions. The system can be transported easily in a single standard air transport plane and deployed in just a few hours. The system is based on the company's transponder tracking technology, which determines an aircraft's precise location in space based on secondary radar returns.
"We are extremely pleased with the Senate's enduring support of our technology and specifically the Rhino project," said Jeff Mains, CEO at ANPC. "Defense appropriations over the past several years have been critical to our development of a product with the functionality and portability needed to support our military's air operations."
This new funding, which is now part of the 2005 Defense spending bill, is allocated to fulfilling the needs of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force. The bill must now be approved by the full Senate, and will then be discussed in joint conference by the Senate and House of Representatives before being signed into law. About ANPC
