LOS OSOS, Calif., July 26, 2004. Engineers at Rantec Power Systems Inc. have launched a new convection cooled, plug-in VME power supply for military ATR applications.
The power supply derives up to 5 DC output voltages from three phase aircraft power per MIL-STD-704. It is compliant to MIL-STD-461D & E and is rated for 600 Watts.
The unit is rugged and has been tested to military vibration, shock and humidity standards. The power supply is rated to operate from -55 to 60C depending on the air flow.
The new power supply is available as either double-slot, convection cooled 6U (above) or single-slot, conduction cooled 6U form factor. The conduction cooled version is rated for 70C at the card rail interface.
Both power supplies are proven COTS products for the most demanding military applications. Operating on 3-phase 200VAC L-L, it can provide up to 5 outputs, generate up to 680 watts, and comply with MIL-STD-461E EMI requirements.
Features include independently regulated, isolated outputs, with each output having an LED status indicator. There are over a dozen current models, offering a mix of output voltages from 3.3 to 28 volts, with +/-12 or +/-15 volt auxiliary outputs available.
Custom models are attained by substituting Rantec's COTS+ HDM DC-DC converter modules into the basic VME configurations. The chassis accommodates 3 HDM DC-DC converter modules, either 3 single output or 2 single and 1 triple modules.
