HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 10, 2004. Sanmina-SCI Corporation, an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company, today announced that it has been awarded a contract from Boeing to develop the Longbow Apache Manned/Unmanned Common Architecture Program (MCAP) Aircraft Interface Unit (AIU) for The Boeing Company's Mesa, Ariz. business unit.
The MCAP AIU will serve as the prototype for the AIU that will be produced by Sanmina-SCI for Boeing under the Apache Block III upgrade program. This avionics subsystem has high input/output capacity, and serves as the interface device between the aircraft's system components and a MIL-STD-1553B high-speed multiplex data bus.
"We are proud of our 16 years of experience with the processors and communications systems for the Apache, and appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the next-generation aircraft," said Jason Chamberlain, senior vice president, Sanmina-SCI Defense and Aerospace Systems. "Boeing is a world- class customer and we look forward to working closely with them to provide this highly complex, state-of-the-art avionics assembly."
