DHS picks DigitalNet for $25 million biometrics contract

HERNDON, Va., September 23, 2004. DigitalNet, a premier provider of network computing solutions, today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security US-VISIT Program Office has awarded DigitalNet with a contract to provide fingerprint identification services at the facilities of the Western Identification Network (WIN) in San Diego, Calif., and the Biometrics Support Center (BSC) in Washington, D.C.

The US-VISIT program verifies the identity of visitors to the United States and expedites secure travel through advanced processing using technology and biometrics. DigitalNet will provide the services of highly experienced fingerprint identification specialists to conduct comparisons of fingerprints collected during these processes. The contract term is for one year with four option periods. If all options are exercised the contract has a value of approximately $25 million.
