WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., September 27, 2004. The U.S. Army's Aviation and Missile Command, Huntsville, Ala., has awarded ITT Industries a contract to complete development of the advanced technology Digital Receiver based Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and associated integration with the AVR-2 Laser Warning Receiver (LWR).
This effort will complete work associated with the advanced Radar Warning Receiver. This will result in a light weight, state-of-the-art Digital Receiver RWR for the Army which embodies growth provisions for RF capability.
The Digital Receiver-based RWR system will be integrated with microwave and millimeter wave antenna assemblies, as well as the AVR-2 Laser Warning Receiver (LWR).
ITT's Avionics Division, based in Clifton, N.J., will perform the work. In July, 2005, they will hold a laboratory demonstration of this RWR in both one-on-one and multiple threat scenarios.
"The advanced Radar Warning Receiver represents technology critical to situational awareness and warfighter safety," said Avionics President Chris Bernhardt. "We're honored to be recognized by our customers for our excellence in design and development of countermeasures system solutions."
The modularity and scalability of this RWR complements and supports ITT's existing ALQ-211 family of countermeasure systems solutions that are currently under contract on numerous fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. Immediate future applications include U.S. Army and international platforms.
