Air Force grants $1.1 million for counter-terrorism research
ROME, N.Y., Oct. 6, 2004. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate has awarded a $1,151,817 contract to Integrated Support Associates of Alexandria, Va., for research to enhance counter-terrorism activities.
The 18-month contract, "Counter-Terrorism Subject Matter Experts," will support the directorate's TOPSAIL program. TOPSAIL's goal is to develop decision-support aides for teams of intelligence analysts and policy personnel to assist in anticipating and preempting terrorist threats to U.S. interests.
"ISAI scientists and engineers will perform counter-terrorism research, consulting and analytical functions as related to the knowledge acquisition technology and applications of the TOPSAIL program," said Daniel E. Daskiewich, program manager in the directorate's Information Technology Division.
"Company researchers will prepare counter-terrorism case studies, including how the user's domain requirements affect tools in the area of collaboration, decision support, scenario generation, knowledge entry, and knowledge acquisition," said Mr. Daskiewich.
"ISAI will also conduct analysis to provide insight into system and technical challenges to meet current user needs in the Department of Defense and intelligence community."
