BALTIMORE, Md., 30 November 2004. View Systems, Inc. today announced a multi-unit order of the Visual First Responder to G.P.C., a contractor and procurer of equipment and technology for the U.S. Coast Guard.
Coast Guard Strike Force Teams stationed around the country will use the Visual First Responder (VFR), a wireless camera system that can transmit high quality video in the most difficult environments. It uses a triple-diversity antenna system to maintain steady wireless video for applications in buildings and other first responder applications.
As the nation's 'maritime first responder,' the Coast Guard serves as a crucial and responsive element of the Department of Homeland Security. Its crews react to a variety of maritime disasters such as plane crashes, groundings, and bridge and waterway accidents.
"These two systems are only the first orders of what could be many more from the United States Coast Guard," stated CEO Gunther Than. "The Homeland Security Department has centralized several agencies and with the Coast Guard making the initial purchase we believe the hands on experience will lead to additional sales to other units and departments."
Future applications could include S.W.A.T., bomb squads, and collapsed structure or urban search and rescue.
