CAE wins contracts for Asian flight simulators

MONTREAL, Quebec, 2 December 2004. CAE has been awarded two contracts by customers in the Asia Pacific region for C$33 million. These new orders represent CAE's eighth and ninth full-flight simulator orders of this fiscal year.

For the first contract, CAE will provide an Airbus A320 full-flight simulator and an A320 CAE Simfinity Integrated Procedure Trainer (IPT) as well as a Boeing 737NG IPT to Zhuhai Flight Training Centre, a joint venture between CAE and China Southern Airlines.

In the second contract, CAE has been selected by Singapore Flying College, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, to deliver a Learjet 45 full-flight simulator and an IPT to its branch in Maroochydore, Australia.

The A320 simulator will feature a CAE Tropos visual system, which provides pilots with highly realistic visual cues through the application of extensive satellite imagery, enhanced weather, advanced real-time lighting and shading effects. The simulator and CAE Simfinity devices are slated for delivery to the joint venture's flight training centre in Zhuhai, China, by late 2005. The simulator will be the eighth to be housed in the 10-bay training centre.

Singapore Flying College's total flight simulation equipment package, including the full-flight simulator and IPT, is scheduled for delivery by summer 2006.

CAE's Simfinity suite of products and services share the same core software as CAE's full-flight simulators, enabling pilots and maintenance crews to gain practical experience with aircraft systems and cockpit procedures at an early stage of the learning process.
