FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla., 1 Sept. 2005. Engineers at Keltec, a Crane Company in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., are making plans to repair components of a U.S. Navy system that protects surface warships from missile attack.
Keltec will repair and upgrade components for the Navy AN/SLQ-32 variants 3 through 5, as well as procure spare components as necessary.
The AN/SLQ-32 is an anti-ship missile defense system, which detects and responds to threats aboard Navy aircraft carriers, frigates, destroyers, and cruisers.
Keltec is doing the work under terms of a $6.6 million contract awarded Aug. 31 from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division in Crane, Ind. The contract number is N00164-05-D-8726.
Company engineers will work on the AN/SLQ-32's electronic modules, high-voltage subassemblies, high-voltage power supplies, and high-voltage distribution units.
Keltec supplies low- and high-voltage power supplies, traveling wave tube amplifies, and RF transmitters.
