U.S. Navy Seasprite helicopter employs Behlman Electronics power supply

The U.S. Navy personnel needed an efficient, failsafe solution for powering its Seasprite helicopter. They found such a system at Behlman Electronics Inc. in Hauppauge, N.Y., the power division of Orbit International Corp. Behlman has received an order valued at more than $1.25 million for a power supply used on the Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System (LAMPS) MK1 SH-2G Seasprite, the U.S. Navy’s antisubmarine and antiship surveillance and targeting helicopter.

Behlman previously supplied this power supply under a prototype and preproduction stage. This new order begins the program’s production phase.

Delivery on the contract is to begin in the first quarter of 2007 and continue through the first quarter of 2008. The order includes options for deliveries through 2011, which could bring the total value of the order to more than $4,500,000.
