Rockwell Collins/STS simulator takes advantage of Christie system

Rockwell Collins’s engineers required a projection solution to power the visualization system for two full-dome simulators used to training Saudi Air Force Tornado aircraft pilots. They filled this technology need at Christie Digital Systems USA in Cypress, Calif.

Each dome features 11 Christie Matrix 4000 three-chip DLP projectors, marking the first time that three-chip DLP technology is used in high-performance fast-jet simulators.

Christie Matrix 4000 projectors deliver up to 6000 ANSI lumens, with an adjustable contrast ratio from 1000:1 to 2000:1 for accurate nighttime scenes. ChristieTWIST image warping, enhanced edge-blending capabilities, and Christie AccuFrame combine to deliver high image realism and performance.
