DataPath supplies satellite terminals to Marine Corps networking program

U.S. Marine Corps officers required a capable partner for work on the Support Wide Area Network (SWAN)-an IP-based communications system that takes advantage of commercial satellite terminals, network baseband equipment, wireless systems, software, and support personnel to provide communications for forward-deployed Marines.

They found their solution in DataPath Inc. in Duluth, Ga. DataPath engineers, having won $8.7 million in U.S. Marine Corps orders, are upgrading the SWAN’s VSAT fly-away systems and satellite transportable terminals, spares, and training programs.

SWAN is designed to deliver mission-critical communications, including surveillance video, from unmanned aerial vehicles and data support services.

The contracting authority for the SWAN delivery orders is Program Manager WIN-T’s Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J. For more information, visit DataPath online at www.datapath.com.
