American Science and Engineering gains $9.2 million ZBV order for a Latin American customs agency

BILLERICA, Mass., 14 May 2008. American Science and Engineering Inc. (AS&E), maker of x-ray detection technology, has received an order for multiple Z Backscatter Vans (ZBVs) for a Latin American customs agency. The order includes operator training, service, and warranty. Three of the systems will be configured with Forwardscatter capability.

"The ZBV provides flexibility and agility to support multiple security applications," says Anthony Fabiano, president and CEO. "The ZBV is a valuable tool for customs officials to detect drugs, weapons, contraband and stowaways -- its speed and agility allows officials to respond quickly and effectively to border threats. As the only system available that provides the capability to uncover organic threats with photo-like clarity, the ZBV continues to prove its effectiveness in meeting the demanding needs of our customer base."
