National Semiconductor introduces 10-bit, 1-gigasample signal path hardware

SANTA CLARA, Calif., 9 Nov. 2008. National Semiconductor Corp. in Santa Clara, Calif., is offering a 2.5 GHz differential amplifier and a 10-bit, 2 giga-sample per second (GSPS) single/1 GSPS dual analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for wideband communications infrastructure and military systems like ground-based radar, data acquisition systems, and point-to-point communications base stations.

At a frequency of 248 MHz, the ADC10D1000 provides spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) performance as high as 66 decibels relative to carrier (dBc) and 9.1 number of bits (ENOB). Running off one supply voltage, the ADC10D1000 consumes 2.8 Watts.

The 2.5 GHz LMH6554 wideband, differential amplifier drives the 10-bit ADC10D1000, providing 0.1 dB gain flatness up to 800 MHz, SFDR of 72 dBc at 250 MHz and low-input voltage noise performance of 0.9 nV/sqrt Hz.

The ADC10D1000 yields 2.52 picojoules (pJ) per conversion, while the LMH6554 consumes 21 microamps per MHz. For more information contact National Semiconductor online at www.national.com.
