Analog Devices introduces level-translating A-D converter driver

NORWOOD, Mass., 4 Dec. 2008. Digital signal processing specialist Analog Devices Inc. in Norwood, Mass., is introducing the AD8275 level-translating analog-to-digital converter driver, which simplifies signal conditioning for high-voltage industrial and instrumentation designs.

System designers can use one component to attenuate, level-shift, and drive low-voltage A-D converters in high-voltage applications, reducing part count and board space by simplifying signal conditioning complexities.

By translating ±10-volt signals to 0-to-4-volt input levels, the 15-MHz AD8275 is for driving high-speed 16-bit successive approximation (SAR) converters, including Analog Devices's AD7685 SAR A-D converter. The amplifier can be configured for differential outputs to drive differential input converters.

Delivering low distortion and a fast 450-nanosecond settling time to 0.001 percent, the amplifier is for system engineers designing applications where quick, accurate data capture is required.

The device comes in an 8-lead, 3-by-5-millimeter mini small-outline package. The AD8275 features an input voltage range of +40 to –35 volts and rail-to-rail outputs. Single-supply operation reduces the power consumption of the amplifier and helps to protect the A-D converter from overdrive conditions.
