One Stop Systems offers XMC host cable adapter card for high-speed expansion

ESCONDIDO, Calif., 4 Jan. 2009. One Stop Systems in Escondido, Calif., is introducing the Express Mezzanine Card (XMC) x8 Gen 2 host cable adapter to enable high-speed expansion over a PCI Express (PCIe) cable.

The XMC is the PCI Express version of the PMC (PCI mezzanine card) and is installed on a CPU board in a host system. A PCIe x8 cable inserted into the cable connector on the face of the XMC expands the PCIe bus to a PCIe downstream device or expansion chassis.

Gen 2 speeds provide wide bandwidth for applications demanding high-speed throughput such as video, imaging and audio devices, and requires no additional software or drivers to operate.

The XMC x8 cable connector on the bezel and the PCIe x8 edge connector are routed directly to the Pericom 5804 redrivers. Since the XMC x8 host cable adapter is based on redriver technology, there are no latency obstacles to throughput.
