LEESBURG, Va., 15 May 2009. Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing in Leesburg, Va., is developing a rugged single board computer family based on the Freescale QorIQ P4080 eight-core communications processor for high-performance, low-power military embedded systems in space- and weight-constrained environments.
Freescale's QorIQ embedded processor for military embedded systems is built using one or more Power Architecture cores, and consists of single, dual and many cores, all based on Freescale's e500 Power Architecture technology.
The QorIQ communications processors begin with the P1 and P2 platforms -- five package-, pin- and software-compatible processors. The QorIQ P4 embedded processors, the signature members of the product line, integrate as many as eight cores, a tri-level cache hierarchy, CoreNet on-chip fabric, and datapath acceleration. All these microprocessors have 45-nanometer geometries.
