BOSTON, 13 June 2009. Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of frequency control, sensor, and hybrid product solutions, announced the availability of its ceramic 5x7 mm crystal oscillators and translators in J-leaded packages. The J-lead packaging provides defense customers with products that are able to withstand the wide range of temperatures and environments necessary for military electronics applications.
Military customers require this surface-mount option to enable more resilient connections, reducing solder fatigue between the ceramic package and the circuit boards in the demanding environmental conditions in which these components must operate flawlessly, says a company representative. By offering a J-leaded package that is 3.6 times smaller in surface area than a 9x14 mm package, Vectron's new releases will help military customers reduce the size of their products without compromising reliability in their system due to temperature coefficient mismatches.
"Our defense customers face engineering challenges in extremely harsh environments, such as rapid temperature changes in avionic and missile applications," says Dave Bail, director of product marketing, Industrial, Military and Space Business Unit, Vectron International.
Products currently available in J-leaded packages include the ceramic 5x7 mm crystal oscillators PX-700 and VX-705, and translators FX-700 and CD-700.
