Information security, cyber intelligence are goals of Boeing acquisition of eXMeritus

ST. LOUIS, 15 June 2009. The Boeing Co. is improving the company's capabilities in information security and cyber intelligence with its acquisition of eXMeritus Inc. in Fairfax, Va., which specializes in hardware and security software for sharing information securely across classified and unclassified networks and systems.

The eXMeritus acquisition complements last year's acquisitions of Digital Receiver Technology, Ravenwing, and Kestrel Enterprises -- key moves in the company's strategy to expand its presence in the cyber and intelligence applications, Boeing officials say.

"The addition of eXMeritus to our team is a strong enhancement to the Boeing capabilities developed through years of experience on secure networks for some of the most complex systems in national security today," says Jim Albaugh, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems.

Operations of eXMeritus will become part of the Boeing Integrated Defense Systems Network and Space Systems unit. The transaction should close this month. Details were not released.
