Anti tamper military FPGA with security for aerospace applications introduced by Altera

SAN JOSE, Calif., 29 June 2009. Altera Corp. in San Jose, Calif., is introducing a low-power field programmable gate array (FPGA) family with anti tamper and security features for military, aerospace, and industrial applications called the Cyclone III LS.

This military FPGA consumes less than 0.25 Watts of static power for 200,000 logic elements (LEs), and is for power and board-space-sensitive applications that require anti tamper technology.

The security of the Cyclone III LS aerospace FPGA offers anti-tamper, design security, and design-separation capabilities to protect sensitive information, including JTAG port protection, tamper monitoring, and cyclical redundancy check (CRC).

These devices have an industry-standard AES 256-bit encryption key for design security in applications where size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements are crucial.

Cyclone III LS FPGAs allow one-chip solution for next-generation military applications such as software-defined radio (SDR), crypto-subsystems, and crypto modernization equipment where long battery life, density at the lowest power, and small board space are required.
