Mil-spec military battery technology for lithium metal oxide use introduced by Tadiran

The Tadiran U.S. Battery Division in Port Washington, N.Y., is introducing the TLM mil-spec, rugged, high-energy lithium metal oxide battery for military and aerospace applications. TLM military-grade battery meets the requirements of single-use applications, such as avionics, navigation and guidance systems, ordinance fuses, missile electronics, telemetry, electronic warfare systems, GPS tracking and emergency/safety devices, and shipboard communications. These batteries come in a variety cylindrical configurations and can easily be assembled into custom battery packs to meet virtually any requirement. The TLM military-grade cylindrical batteries have an open circuit voltage of four volts, with a discharge capacity of 500 milli-amp-hours (20 milliamps at 2.8 volts RT), capable of handling 5 amps continuous pulses and 15 amps maximum high-current pulses. These military batteries are built with a carbon-based anode, multi-metal oxide cathode, organic electrolyte, and shut-down separator for enhanced safety.
