SAN JOSE, Calif., 15 Oct. 2009. Integrated Device Technology Inc. (IDT) in San Jose, Calif., is introducing Serial RapidIO Gen 2 IP, switches, evaluation platforms. IDT also has been selected by Texas Instruments (TI) for its wireless optimized digital signal processors (DSPs).
The combined IDT/TI RapidIO solution for switched fabric produces high speeds and control of the switch fabric traffic in networks with large clusters of DSPs. The IDT Serial RapidIO Gen 2 solutions, which are backwards compatible with RapidIO 1.3, can help boost system level performance in military, video/imaging, and wireless applications.
The high lane speeds of Serial RapidIO Gen 2 run at double the speed of the current 1.3 version, and in the same package.
"RapidIO Gen 2 addresses designers' increased bandwidth requirements by doubling the speed of RapidIO Rev 1.3, increasing link speeds to 6.25 Gbaud and by offering more port choices, increasing flexibility and system level features," says Tom Cox, executive director of the RapidIO Trade Association.
