
ROCHESTER, N.Y., 30 Oct. 2009. The Harris Corp. RF Communications Division in Rochester, N.Y., won a $90 million five-year radio communications contract from the U.S. Marine Corps Thursday to provide as many as 3,385 kits to install the Harris AN/PRC-117F multiband radio in Marine Corps vehicles.
The PRC-117F military radio is also known as the Harris Falcon II multiband series radio, which operates with Citadel encryption over RF frequencies from 30 to 512 MHz in ground-to-ground, ground-to-air, and ship-to-shore communications.
The tactical radio also sends and receives digital data at rates as fast as 64 kilobits per second. Its electronic counter-countermeasures modes include Have Quick I/II, Quicklook 1A, Rockwell Collins TALON.
Harris will do the work in Rochester, N.Y., and should finish by October 2014. Awarding the contract were officials of the Marine Corps Systems Command at Quantico Marine Base Va.
