Credit card-sized Intel Atom-based computer boards introduced by Kontron AG

Posted by John Keller

MUNICH, Germany, 26 Nov. 2009. Kontron AG in Munich, Germany, is introducing a credit card-sized computer on module for ultra small system designs.

The 55-by-84-millimeter Intel Atom processor-based Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP computer boards have 1 gigabyte of memory, SDIO/GPIO switching via BIOS, and optional implemented SDVO connections. The computer board also has compatible extensions to the PICMG COM Express specification, following the pin-out type 1 definition.

The single board computer can control two displays independently for mobile handheld devices with two (touch) displays, mobile devices with separate independent monitor via docking station, independent infotainment panels in automobiles, dual monitor HMIs for machine control and monitoring, and twin applications such as two kiosk systems run by one embedded computer.

The interface for VGA, DVI or HDMI can also be used for SDTV and HDTV television outputs and TV tuner inputs by the usage of chips used in ADD2 and ADD2+ media expansion cards.

The nanoETXexpress-SP single-board computer supports the VxWorks 6.7 release as well as Linux, Windows XP, XPe, and the Win CE 6.0 R3. For more information contact Kontron online at www.kontron.com.
