Engineered Support Receives $11.2M Radar Contract . Engineered Support Systems, Inc. has received a $11.2 million contract for the upgrade of Manportable, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition Radar (MSTAR) systems from the Canadian Department of National Defence. The contract award also includes spare parts and associated components. The contract calls for the upgrade of 173 MSTAR systems that are integrated into the Canadian Coyote Reconnaissance vehicle.
Larry Schwartz to Rejoin L-3 Communications NEW YORK. L-3 Communications announced that Larry Schwartz has rejoined the company as vice president of Homeland Security and president of the Navigation Products group, which encompasses L-3's Interstate Electronics Corporation (IEC) and Space & Navigation divisions. Mr. Schwartz had previously served with the company for over 30 years, most recently as vice president of Business Development.
Quantum3D and United Defense Develop Bradley Training System ORLANDO, Fla. Quantum3D, Inc. and United Defense, have successfully implemented an embedded training application for the Bradley A3 Fighting Vehicle. The application features the Quantum3D Sentiris COTS PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC), based on NVIDIA Quadro4 Graphic Processing Units (GPU) technology.
DRS Technologies Completes Acquisition of Paravant PARSIPPANY, N.J.--DRS Technologies announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Prince Merger Corporation, was merged with and into Paravant Inc. resulting in Paravant becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRS. The merger was completed, pursuant to an Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of October 23, 2002, by and among DRS Technologies, Prince Merger Corporation and Paravant.
DRS Technologies Sells Advanced Programs Unit PARSIPPANY, N.J. DRS Technologies, Inc. has sold its DRS Advanced Programs unit for approximately $7 million in cash, subject to adjustment, to a group of investors including the unit's former management. The company realized no material gain or loss from the sale.
Aussie Rocket Scientist Leads Iraq Weapons Inspection NEW YORK. South Australia, the research and development center for Australia's defense industry, is the home and training ground of the UN team's chief weapons inspector for Iraq, Dr Bill Jolley, who takes over the role in December. Jolley, one of Australia's leading rocket and missile propulsion experts, will leave for Baghdad on November 25, and will begin his team-leader duties on December 3.
Spirent Systems Awarded UK MoD Support Contract WICHITA, Kan. The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) recently awarded Spirent Systems a contract for the continued support of the installed flight data replay and analysis system at 216 Squadron, The Royal Air Force. Spirent Systems Ground Replay and Analysis Facility (GRAF) has been in service with 216 Squadron since the introduction of the L1011 Tristar aircraft in the mid 1980s.
