Communications Corporation has been awarded a contract from ViaSat to supply several ground-based radomes for the Space Lift Range Safety System Contract (SLRSC) program. The SLRSC consists of assets to enable the safe and effective launch, testing and tracking of Department of Defense (DoD), civil, commercial and international space-lift vehicles, and L-3's radomes will play a critical role in asset protection

Boeing Selects Software for Underwater Mine Detection SANTA BARBARA, CA, June 9, 2003. Boeing has selected Green Hills Software's MULTI Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for the company's Long-term Mine Reconnaissance System (LMRS). MULTI will be used to develop the PowerPC-based data acquisition and image-processing software that detects and identifies mines at sea.
Intelligent Video Surveillance Protects Ships from Terrorists RESTON, Va., June 4, 2003. ObjectVideo has been awarded a three-year contract to jointly develop surveillance software as part of a U.S. Navy program to protect ships in port from terrorist attacks. Under the contract with the Office of Naval Research for the Small Business Innovation Research (ONR SBIR) Phase II Project, ObjectVideo will provide surveillance systems, including a 360-degree camera, that will allow a ship's security watch to detect threatening movements of other vessels

InVision Invests in SafeView for Passenger Screening NEWARK, Calif., May 30, 2003. InVision Technologies, Inc. has made a strategic equity investment in SafeView, Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif. The investment will be used in part to commercialize an advanced portal system that uses millimeter wave holographic technology to screen passengers for weapons, explosives and other contraband material, including ceramic, plastic and other non-metallic weapons.
EADS Launches Major Military Aircraft Program AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, May 29, 2003. EADS will now register the largest defense order in its history worth EUR 20 billion for the A400M military transport aircraft. The 400M contract was signed in Bonn, Germany, by Airbus Military and the European procurement agency OCCAR representing France, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Luxemburg and the United Kingdom. The contract will come into effect on 31 May 2003
Lufthansa and Boeing Sign Deal for Mobile Broadband FRANKFURT, May 28, 2003. Lufthansa and Boeing have signed a definitive service agreement that solidifies the European air carrier's position as the launch customer for the Connexion by Boeing mobile information service and a leader in bringing broadband connectivity to passengers in flight. The agreement calls for the Connexion by Boeing service to be installed on Lufthansa's fleet of approximately 80 long-haul aircraft, including Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft.
Reynolds Industries Awarded NASA SBIR Contract LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 27, 2003. Reynolds Industries, a manufacturer of high-reliability aerospace and defense interconnect products has been awarded a Phase One SBIR contract by NASA for the development and qualification of improved miniature high-voltage connectors for deep space use.
DuPont to Partner on Nanotechnology Research at MIT CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 23, 2003. DuPont will be serving as a founding partner of the new Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies, which recently officially opened its 28,000-square-foot research and development facility at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
