BAE Systems proceeds to phase II for U.S. commercial airliner protection NASHUA, N.H., Aug. 25, 2004. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced that BAE Systems has been selected to participate in Phase II of its Counter-MANPADS (Man-Portable Air Defense Systems) program to protect commercial aircraft against threats posed by infrared guided missiles.

General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, announced today it has been awarded a contract by the United States Air Force (USAF) to develop and deliver 10 prototype tablet computers powered by direct liquid fuel cells for evaluation as a potential replacement for the department's current ground air traffic control computers.
UQM to build hybrid electric propulsion for Marine Corps unmanned ground combat vehicles FREDERICK, Colo., Aug. 24, 2004. UQM Technologies, Inc., a developer of alternative energy technologies, announced today that it has received a $599,000 contract from the U.S. Marine Corps to develop a hybrid electric propulsion system to power small unmanned ground combat vehicles with vehicle weights of 500 pounds to one ton.
Curtiss-Wright Controls wins Lockheed Martin contract for helicopter radar Littleton, Mass., August 10, 2004. Curtiss-Wright Controls Inc. has received a firm-fixed-price contract by Lockheed Martin's Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) Rapid Response (CR2) office, Tinton Falls, N.J. The award, in excess of $6 million, is for procurement of spare Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) systems currently used by the U.S. Army.
ATK lands seven contracts with NASA, Air Force, and Industry MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Aug. 23, 2004. ATK Advanced Propulsion and Space Systems (APSS), the company's newest business group, has received a series of advanced technology contracts valued at $8.5 million. Follow-on options could bring the total value to $18.5 million.
Air Force awards Lockheed Martin $14.7 million radar contract SYRACUSE, N.Y., August 23, 2004. Lockheed Martin received a $14.7 million contract to add a second AN/TPS-77 transportable radar system to the U.S. Air Force's inventory for the Pacific Alaska Range Complex (PARC), the nation's largest contiguous supersonic training area.
