Lockheed and Northrop team for Army radar contract
ORLANDO, Fla., 2 August 2005. The Longbow Limited Liability Co. (LBL), a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman Corp., has been awarded a contract worth $17.6 million to begin work on the Fire Control Radar Electronics Unit (REU) as part of the U.S. Army's Apache Longbow Block III modernization effort.

Raytheon builds radar warning receiver for F-16
GOLETA, Calif., 2 August 2005. Raytheon Co. has been awarded a $10 million contract for an advanced concept technology demonstration of Advanced Tactical Targeting Technology (AT3). The technology will be demonstrated in 2007 on three F-16 Block 30 aircraft using Raytheon's digital radar warning receiver, the ALR-69A(V).

Thales and Raytheon will support Army radars
FULLERTON, Calif., 2 August 2005. ThalesRaytheonSystems Co. (TRS) has been awarded a $130 million contract modification to provide spare parts to support the AN/TPQ-36 and AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder weapon locating radars fielded by the U.S. Army.

Marine Corps orders training system from Lockheed Martin
ORLANDO, Fla., 2 August 2005. Lockheed Martin was awarded three contracts totaling $15.2 million by the U.S. Marine Corps, including a follow-on order for Virtual Combat Convoy Trainers (VCCT) and two orders for Advanced Gunnery Training Systems (AGTS).

BILLERICA, Mass., 1 August 2005. American Science and Engineering, Inc. (AS&E) announced today the receipt of an order for $9.4 million from the U.S government for eight Z Backscatter Van (ZBV) X-ray screening systems.

BAE Systems improves armor for Marine Corps vehicles
SANTA CLARA, Calif., 1 August 2005. BAE Systems has been awarded a three-year contract worth up to $2.8 million from the U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Research to develop an advance armor solution for Marine Corps ground combat vehicles.

QinetiQ acquires Planning Systems Inc.
WALTHAM, Mass., 1 August 2005. Foster-Miller, Inc., the U.S.-based technology development and robotics company which is part of the QinetiQ North America group of companies, announced today that it is acquiring Planning Systems Inc. (PSI) for $42 million.

Bell Helicopter to build Army's Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter
FORT WORTH, Texas, 1 August 2005. Bell Helicopter, a unit of Textron Inc., was awarded a $2.2 billion contract by the U.S. Army to build its next-generation Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter, or ARH.

General Atomics to build Predator UAV radar systems
SAN DIEGO, 1 Aug. 2005. U.S. Air Force officials are asking General Atomics-Aeronautical Systems in San Diego to build nine Lynx synthetic aperture radars for the Predator unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
