International Rectifier introduces HiRel hybrid motor control module
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 23 October 2006. International Rectifier (IR), maker of power management technology, has introduced the IRMCT3UF1, a fully-integrated high-reliability (HiRel) hybrid motor control module enabling digital, sensor-free vector control of permanent magnet motors. The module combines digital control, analog interface, and power stage, streamlining time-to-market and increasing design flexibility to accommodate drive system changes in high-reliability applications.

Areté Associates to develop CatsEye laser threat warning system to protect Army aircraft against laser-guided weapons
ARLINGTON, Va., 23 October 2006. The U.S. Army RDECOM CERDEC I2WD has awarded Areté Associates a $2.3 million contract to develop a laser threat warning system to protect Army fixed- and rotarywing aircraft against laser-guided weapons.

VMETRO releases bundle of C-libraries for digital signal processing
HOUSTON, 23 October 2006. VMETRO has unveiled VSIPlus, a bundle of C-libraries for digital signal processing that has been optimized for the PowerPC 744x processor. The VSIPlus libraries support VxWorks 5.5 and products such as the Phoenix VPF1 DSP VXS board. The bundle includes VSIPL, CSIPL, and VecLib open-standards, as well as more than 6,000 DSP functions.

Northrop Grumman's Space Technology sector selects Nallatech for multiple FPGA-based satellite platform

Nallatech, maker of high-performance FPGA computing solutions, has completed a project with Northrop Grumman Corporation's Space Technology sector. The two companies collaborated on a test platform for space borne processing, which takes advantage of Nallatech products and services.

U.S. Air Force contracts Millennium Cell to develop next-generation sodium borohydride-based fuel cartridge technology for soldiers
EATONTOWN, N.J., 20 October 2006. Millennium Cell Inc., a developer of hydrogen battery technology, has received a delivery order from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to develop the next generation of sodium borohydride-based fuel cartridge technology to address higher energy density targets for future power sources. The delivery order, if fully utilized by the military, provides for up to $4.0 million in purchases of technology and products over its five-year life.

Kairos Autonomi has unveiled the Pronto4 Universal Retrofit Kit, designed to enable remotely piloted (RPV), remotely guided (RGV), and autonomous (AGV) travel with any steering wheel-based vehicle or vessel. Orbit International's remote control units adopted by U.S. Navy and U.S. Army for common transponder program
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., 19 October 2006. The Electronics Group of Orbit International Corp., an electronics manufacturer and supplier, has received approximately $950,000 relating to the procurement of its Remote Control Units ("RCU") in support of the Common Transponder ("CXP") program for both U.S. Navy and U.S. Army program requirements.
