Lockheed Martin to build precise navigation systems for Navy Avenger-class mine-hunting ships
MANASSAS, Va., 24 Dec. 2006. The Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors segment in Manassas, Va., won a $644 million contract for AN/SSN-2(V)5 navigation command and control (NAVC2) precise integrated navigation systems for U.S. Navy Avenger-class (MCM 1) mine countermeasures ships.

Navy researchers eye advanced software tools for automatic generation of man-machine interface code
LAKEHURST, N.J., 24 Dec. 2006. Software engineers at Harmonia Inc. in Blacksburg, Va., are working with the U.S. Navy to use the User Interface Markup Language (UIML) to automatically generate tactical man-machine interface code.

BAE Systems to demonstrate electro-optical system for anti-submarine warfare in littoral waters
HONOLULU, 23 Dec. 2006. BAE Systems Spectral Solutions LLC in Honolulu won a $6.8 million order to demonstrate a turret for the Electro-Optic Passive Anti-Submarine Warfare System (EPAS) -- an integrated non-acoustic sensor suite that uses combined passive spectral imaging to enable U.S. Navy patrol aircraft to locate and attack enemy submarines and other ocean-going targets.

Raytheon gets nod to build 50 more ATFLIR electro-optical targeting systems for F/A-18 aircraft
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., 23 Dec. 2006. The Raytheon Co. Space and Airborne Systems segment in El Segundo, Calif., won a $156.3 million contract modification to provide 50 Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) pods for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps F/A-18C/D and F/A-18E/F Hornet jet fighter-bombers.

Aitech Defense Systems adds C903 board to rugged 3U CompactPCI SBC series
CHATSWORTH, Calif., 23 Dec. 2006. Aitech Defense Systems Inc., an independent manufacturer of board and subsystem level products for harsh environment defense, aerospace, and astronautics applications, has expanded its C900 series of rugged 3U CompactPCI (cPCI) single-board computers (SBCs) with the new low-power, high-performance C903, available in both rugged air- or conduction-cooled versions.

Augusta Systems assists U.S. Army in development of sensor-driven power control systems for robotic vehicles
MORGANTOWN, W.Va., 22 Dec. 206. Augusta Systems, a provider of sensor system technologies, was awarded a $750,000 contract to assist the U.S. Army with the development of advanced power control systems for robotic vehicles. Under a contract from the Army's Aviation Applied Technology Directorate, Augusta Systems will provide sensor-enabling technologies as part of a larger effort to integrate fuel cell power systems into unmanned vehicles.

Aerosonic's Avionics Specialties subsidiary to supply electronic sensing systems to Korean Aerospace Industries Ltd.
CLEARWATER, Fla., 21 Dec. 2006. Aerosonic Corporation, a supplier of flight products for commercial and military aircraft, has announced that its Avionics Specialties Inc. wholly-owned subsidiary has received a $7.5 million order from Korea Aerospace Industries Limited (KAI). Avionics Specialties will supply air data systems, including integrated multifunction probe (IMFP) and related equipment for the production of KAI's T50 aircraft.

Augusta Systems' technologies enhance intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities of unmanned systems
MORGANTOWN, W.Va., 21 Dec. 2006. Small unmanned aircraft can now be configured to select and transmit only the most useful data, rather than streaming all data back to military personnel. This newfound ability was successfully demonstrated in a flight test of unmanned vehicles equipped with on-board sensor processing capabilities developed by Augusta Systems.

PrismTech seeks patent for field programmable gate array integrated circuit ORB middleware technology
BOSTON, Mass., 21 Dec. 2006. PrismTech, a provider of productivity tools and middleware, has submitted a U.S. Patent Application for its field programmable gate array (FPGA) integrated circuit ORB (ICO) middleware technology. The full utility patent application follows on from the provisional patent application submitted in 2005.

Navy taps Boeing for CASS aircraft avionics test and measurement systems
PATUXENT RIVER NAS, Md., 21 Dec. 2006. The Boeing Co. in St. Louis won a maximum $8.9 million contract Dec. 15 for 104 Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) Operational Test Program Sets (OTPS) for the U. S. Navy and the Kuwait.
