CARY, N.C., 26 September 2006. 3Dsolve Inc., The Simulation Learning Company, has joined the America's Army development team -- more than a dozen government organizations and private software firms working together to create authentic military training and deployment simulation scenarios.

BAE Systems tests VMetro's SANbric rugged storage system for analysis of flight test data
HOUSTON, 26 September 2006. BAE Systems has successfully completed a series of flight tests using VMetro's SANbric rugged storage system. The SANbric provides storage for high-speed data recording, archival, and playback analysis of flight test data acquired during deployment of an imaging system. During the tests, the SANbric storage module and shock isolation unit were mounted in an imaging system pod in the pallet bay of the aircraft.

U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Center orders FLIR Systems' enhanced targeting sight infrared imaging systems
Portland, Ore., 25 September 2006. The U.S. Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Center - Crane in Indiana has submitted an order valued at $6.7 million to FLIR Systems Inc. for the delivery of enhanced targeting sight (ETS) infrared imaging systems.

Essex to expand optical portfolio, to acquire Adaptive Optics Associates
COLUMBIA, Md., 25 September 2006. Essex Corporation has entered into a binding purchase agreement to acquire Adaptive Optics Associates Inc. (AOA) from Metrologic Instruments Inc. in exchange for roughly $40.3 million.

BAE Systems, National Instruments, Phase Matrix to develop PXI Express-based synthetic instrument for RF, microwave military applications
ANAHEIM, Calif., 25 September 2006. BAE Systems, National Instruments, and Phase Matrix Inc. (PMI) have announced a joint initiative to develop a PXI Express-based synthetic instrument for military and commercial RF and microwave applications.

Intel, U.C. Santa Barbara develop first hybrid silicon laser, advance computing and data speeds and technology
SANTA CLARA, Calif., 22 September 2006. Researchers from Intel Corporation and the University of California - Santa Barbara (UCSB) have built the world's first electrically powered hybrid silicon laser using standard silicon manufacturing processes. It addresses one of the last major barriers to producing low-cost, high-bandwidth silicon photonics devices for use inside and around future computers and data centers.

Netuitive's business service management software aids U.S. Air Force in diagnosing, resolving performance issues
RESTON, Va., 22 September 2006. Software from Netuitive Inc., a leader in real-time analysis software for business service management (BSM), is being used as the core technology in a $7.4 million U.S. Air Force contract. Netuitive software gives the Air Force the ability to diagnose, resolve, and predict IT and service performance issues in real-time, enabling the organization to leverage and extend its current investments, improve overall IT performance, and streamline IT operations.

Parvus introduces military-grade embedded switch for net-centric operations
SALT LAKE CITY, 22 September 2006. Parvus Corp. has introduced the PRV-1059 VLAN-enabled five-Port PC/104 ethernet switch, designed and tested to MIL-STD-810F. The PRV-1059 switch is well suited to space-constrained, high-reliability aviation, industrial, military, and transportation applications where extreme temperature and high shock/vibration exists.

Telos to deliver automated message-handling system to U.S. Coast Guard
ASHBURN, Va., 21 September 2006. The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded Telos Corporation a contract to provide a secure enterprise-wide messaging system for its 45,000 users. The contract establishes Xacta Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) as the enterprise messaging solution for the Coast Guard and is valued at a minimum of $600,000.

L-3 Communications installs millimeter wave body-screening portals for enhanced security at entry-control checkpoints in Israel
NEW YORK CITY, 21 September 2006. L-3 Communications' L-3 SafeView Inc. subsidiary, a division of the newly established L-3 Homeland Security Group, has completed the installation of a number of active millimeter wave body-screening portals at key entry control checkpoints in Iraq's International Zone. The Dutch Army also has placed an order with L-3 for MMW portals and x-ray checkpoint screening systems for facilities in Afghanistan as part of the NATO contingent.
