NASA selects Lockheed Martin for Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle
WASHINGTON 1 September 2006. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced today that it has selected the Lockheed Martin team to design and build the agency's next-generation human space flight crew transportation system known as Orion, with an initial contract value of approximately $4 billion.

U.S. Air Force awards $49 million contract to Space Data Corporation for communications system
CHANDLER, Ariz., 1 September 2006. The U.S. Air Force Space Command Space & Missile Systems Center's Development and Test Wing, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., is awarding a $49 million contract to Space Data Corporation to provide a near space communications system. "Near space" is defined as 65,000 to 135,000 feet above the earth.
Creative Vistas receives $1 million in orders for surveillance projects
WHITBY, Canada, 1 September 2006. Creative Vistas Inc., a leading provider of advanced security and surveillance products and solutions and broadband deployment services, has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, AC Technical Systems Ltd., has been awarded approximately $1 million in orders for integrating and servicing security and surveillance systems. A majority of the orders are for systems in the government, education, and healthcare sectors.
Sagem selects eMagin OLEDs to deliver data to future soldiers
BELLEVUE, Wash., 31 August 2006. Sagem Defense Securite has entered into a multi-year contract with eMagin Corporation, maker of OLED (organic light-emitting diode) microdisplay technology, to provide the microdisplays for its FELIN program. FELIN is the French Army's integrated soldier system.
Proxy Aviation Systems unveils SkyForce multi-UAV management system
GERMANTOWN, Md., 31 August 2006. Proxy Aviation Systems Inc., a developer of autonomous unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), has introduced its SkyForce distributed management system (DMS) and a new aircraft, SkyRaider, at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International's (AUVSI) Unmanned Systems North America 2006 (www.auvsi.org) trade show.
EPS Network Solutions orders GigaBeam WiFiber links for DOD program
HERNDON, Va., 31 August 2006. GigaBeam Corporation has received a $550,340 purchase order for WiFiber wireless fiber links from EPS Network Solutions Inc., an affiliate of Engineering and Professional Services Inc. (EPS). The purchase was made in support of a program EPS is working on with the Department of Defense (DOD).
Cyber Defense Systems' UAV participates in U.S. Air Force Academy war-training exercises
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., 30 August 2006. Cyber Defense Systems Inc.'s CyberBug hand-launched UAV successfully participated in war training exercises at the U.S. Air Force Academy at the end of July.
AAI Corporation issues $3 million order for Athena's flight control systems
ORLANDO, Fla., 30 August 2006. Athena Technologies Inc. announced during the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Conference in Orlando that it has received a $3 million order for its GuideStar flight control systems from Hunt Valley, MD-based AAI Corporation.
mPhase Technologies to release ultra-sensitive detection device to aid in homeland security
LITTLE FALLS, N.J., 30 August 2006. mPhase Technologies executives revealed that border incursions could one day be prevented by a detection device now under development. In laboratory tests the device, called a magnetometer, has already demonstrated high sensitivity to the presence of a magnetic object simulating a rifle more than 30 feet away.
