Adacel awarded $2.2 million in contract extensions from Lockheed Martin
ORLANDO, Fla., 24 August 2006. Adacel, maker of software integration, simulation development, and speech recognition technology, has received additional contract amendments from Lockheed Martin to support work on the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) and Advanced Technologies and Oceanic Procedures (ATOP). The total value of the new contractual amendments is $2.2 million.

Spacehab to support commercial orbital transportation partners
HOUSTON, 23 August 2006. NASA has announced SpaceX and Rocketplane-Kistler as its funded partners under the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) program. Spacehab Incorporated has been in the business of providing commercial access to space for more than 20 years and has supplied NASA with its research and laboratory modules and carriers for use on the space shuttle since 1993.

Dynasil and EMF announce acquisition agreement
WEST BERLIN, N.J., 23 August 2006. Dynasil Corporation of America and Evaporated Metal Films Corp. of Ithaca, New York, have signed a definitive agreement for Dynasil to acquire 100 percent of the stock of EMF for a cash payment at closing.

TVI Corporation to support DOD Guardian Installation Protection program
GLENN DALE, Md., 23 August 2006. TVI Corporation, a supplier of rapidly deployable first receiver and first responder systems for homeland security, hospitals, the military, police and fire departments, and public health agencies, is one of the two decontamination system providers for the Department of Defense (DOD) Guardian Installation Protection Program. The initial purchase for the multi-year program is for $490,000.

Smiths Detection solution selected for advanced CBRN detection robot
EDGEWOOD, Md., 22 August 2006. The U.S. Army's Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center has selected Smiths Detection, part of the global engineering business Smiths Group, to supply the Lightweight Chemical Detector (LCD) for use with a new advanced reconnaissance robot.

Kuchera Defense Systems contracts Jadoo to develop next-generation fuel cell system designs
FOLSOM, Calif., 22 August 2006. Kuchera Defense Systems (KDS) has awarded Jadoo Power Systems Inc., a supplier of portable fuel cell power systems, a contract to develop the next evolution in advanced fuel cell system designs. Building upon the Jadoo IFS24 military development platform delivered earlier this year, the contract will focus on system optimization and weight reduction. The end goal is a fuel cell power systems weighing 70-percent less than traditional batteries.

Teledyne acquires CollaborX Inc., majority stake in Ocean Design Inc.
LOS ANGELES, 22 August 2006. Teledyne Technologies Incorporated has completed the acquisitions of CollaborX Inc. for $17.5 million, and has acquired the majority interest in Ocean Design Inc. for approximately $30 million.

IS&S enables flat-panel B767 cockpit upgrade in two days
EXTON, Penn., 21 August 2006. Innovative Solutions & Support Inc., along with an installation partner, announced a milestone in the speed of cockpit upgrades and installations. An installation of the IS&S Cockpit/IP flat-panel display system for a customer's B-767 aircraft was completed in 48 hours, cutting the costs associated with keeping an aircraft on the ground and out of commission -- a savings of roughly $70,000 per day.

NextEnergy selects Titan Energy Development's Sentry 5000 for AM2GPS project
SAN DIEGO, 21 August 2006. Titan Energy Development Inc., a subsidiary of Safe Travel Care Inc., has received an order for a Sentry 5000 mobile utility system from NextEnergy, a nonprofit corporation. The Sentry 5000 system will be used in a program supported by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) grant to develop mobile utility solutions to provide on-demand power anywhere in the world.

mPhase Technologies to form separate magnetometer company
LITTLE FALLS, N.J., 21 August 2006. mPhase Technologies Inc. has announced that its Board of Directors has approved the spinout of its ultra-sensitive magnetometer business into a separately traded public company. The spinout is subject to shareowner approval. The new company, to be led by a new CEO, could immediately leverage intellectual property, partnerships, and customer relations garnered in the magnetometer development program underway with Lucent Technologies Bell Labs.
