L-3 Communications' Link Simulation and Training division delivers F/A-18 trainer to RAAF NEW YORK CITY, 18 August 2006. L-3 Communications' Link Simulation and Training division has delivered the first F/A-18 Tactical Operational Flight Trainer (TOFT) in support of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F/A-18 Hornet Aircrew Training System (HACTS). The F/A-18 TOFT, installed at RAAF Base Williamtown in New South Wales, Australia, was dedicated during a ceremony at the base, declaring the installation ready for training.
JPS Communications releases new radio to SIP interface RALEIGH, N.C., 18 August 2006. Raytheon's JPS Communications, a leader in radio interoperability technology, has unveiled its Analog Radio Adapter, the ARA-1. Comparable to an analog telephone adapter (ATA), which allows a standard telephone to operate on a session initiation protocol (SIP) network, the ARA-1 provides that same functionality to a radio.
Viisage completes acquisition of Iridian Technologies BILLERICA, Mass., 18 August 2006. Viisage has completed the acquisition of privately-held Iridian Technologies Inc., the company responsible for the initial development and commercialization of iris recognition technology. Viisage announced the company's intention to acquire Iridian on July 17, 2006. Under the terms of the agreement with Iridian, Viisage paid Iridian shareholders $35 million in cash.
DefenderTech International Solutions' Protadas identifies concealed liquid explosive containers SAINT CLAIR SHORES, Mich., 17 August 2006. DefenderTech International Solutions has announced a detection system able to identify the types of containers that might be used to house liquid explosives, even if concealed beneath clothing.
NASA selects Crystal Group CS900 server for Space Video Gateway system Hiawatha, Iowa, 17 August 2006. Crystal Group Inc.'s CS900 server has been selected for NASA's Space Video Gateway System. Crystal's CS900 server will launch aboard STS-115 Atlantis in late August or early September and will be delivered to the International Space Station (ISS).
Neverfail awarded GSA contract for high availability and disaster recovery software AUSTIN, Texas, 17 August 2006. Neverfail, a provider of high availability and disaster recovery technologies, has been granted a General Services Administration (GSA) Information Technology Schedule Contract. Under terms of the five-year agreement, Neverfail and its nearly 500 U.S. channel partners are now government-preferred vendors and will continue to provide local, state, and federal government entities with the latest business continuity technologies.
LynuxWorks supports Extreme Engineering's single-board computer SAN JOSE, Calif., 16 August 2006. LynuxWorks Inc. has introduced a LynxOS-178 RTOS board support package (BSP) for Extreme Engineering Solutions' XPedite6032 single-board computer. It marks the first time that Extreme Engineering's aerospace hardware platform has been supported by a certifiable DO-178B safety-critical operating system.
BAE Systems wins Naval Undersea Warfare Center services contract ROCKVILLE, Md., 16 August 2006. BAE Systems has been awarded an $8.6 million contract for technical and professional support services for the In-Service Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support department of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Keyport, Wash. The total cumulative value of the contract could reach roughly $54 million if all four one-year options are exercised. The award was made under the Naval Sea Systems Command SeaPort-e multiple award contract.
SatCon announces more than $1 million in Class K contract awards BOSTON, 16 August 2006. SatCon Technology Corporation has announced that SatCon Electronics, a wholly owned subsidiary, designer, and manufacturer of high-reliability electronic components has been awarded more than $1 million in contracts for Class K circuits from two major North American satellite subcontractors. These custom signal-processing devices are used in inertial navigation and guidance control computers.
L-3 Communications to acquire Nova Engineering NEW YORK CITY, 15 August 2006. L-3 Communications has agreed to acquire Nova Engineering (Nova) for $45 million in cash, plus an amount not to exceed $10 million contingent upon Nova's future financial performance. The business is expected to generate annual sales of approximately $40 million for the year ending December 31, 2007, and will be included in L-3's Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C3ISR) reportable segment.
