B/E Aerospace acquires Draeger Aerospace GmbH WELLINGTON, Fla., 27 July 2006. B/E Aerospace Inc., a manufacturer of aircraft cabin interior products and a leading aftermarket distributor of aerospace fasteners, has acquired Draeger Aerospace GmbH (Draeger) from Cobham PLC of Dorset, England for approximately $80 million. The acquisition is an all-cash purchase.
Australian Department of Defence awards contract for UAV trial to Mediaware WASHINGTON and CANBERRA, Australia, 26 July 2006. Mediaware, a developer of digital video exploitation systems and solutions for the defense and broadcast sectors, has been awarded a contract by the Australian Department of Defence for its D-VEX Digital Video Exploitation System. The trial is being led by the Defence, Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) in collaboration with the Navy, RAAF, Army and other areas of Defence, as well as the Joint Offshore Protection Command.
DRS to design and produce environmental control equipment for U.S. Army PARSIPPANY, N.J., 26 July 25, 2006. DRS Technologies Inc. has received a $44 million contract, including options, to design and produce 60,000 BTU/hr Improved Environmental Control Units (60K IECUs) for the U.S. Army. The contract was awarded by the U.S. Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Acquisition Center - Washington in Alexandria, Va.
AiTech delivers first production lot of ALH display & mission computers Chatsworth, Calif., 26 July 2006. Aitech Defense Systems Inc., a developer and manufacturer of board and subsystem level products for harsh environment defense, aerospace, and space applications, has delivered the first production lot of 30 Display & Mission Computers (DMCs) that drive the glass cockpit avionics of the Indian Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Program to the LAHAV Division of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI).
BBN Technologies receives $8.1 million contract CAMBRIDGE, Mass., 25 July 2006. BBN Technologies, a leading advanced technology solutions firm, has been awarded $8.1 million under phase three of a wireless networking program funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The goal of the program, Connectionless Networks, is to cut the energy required for mesh networking communications that enable people to communicate reliably in areas lacking a communications infrastructure.
Philips leads DARPA Development Project for an Ultrasound Device to Stem Bleeding and Save Lives on the Battlefield BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y., 25 July 2006. Philips Research is to lead phase one of a planned four-year DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) medical technology project to reduce the number of battlefield deaths from internal bleeding. A new medical technology to detect and stem the internal bleeding of wounded soldiers is to be developed by a consortium led by Philips Research.
American Technology Corporation receives $700,000 order for LRAD 500 SAN DIEGO, 25 July 2006. American Technology Corporation (ATC), a provider of commercial, government, and military directed sound products and solutions, has received its largest LRAD 500 order to date, totaling more than $700,000. The order is expected to ship this quarter to a military customer.
Textron Systems advances precision engagement, vehicle systems capabilities PROVIDENCE, R.I., 24 July 2006. Expanding its capabilities in the areas of precision engagement and vehicle system technologies, Textron Inc.'s Textron Systems unit has acquired Innovative Survivability Technologies Inc. (IST). IST, a privately-held supplier of defensive systems to military and homeland security customers, had 2005 revenues of roughly $7 million. The firm will become part of Textron Systems' Advanced Solutions Center (ASC) organization.
Bruker AXS acquires hand-held XRF company BILLERICA, Mass., 24 July 2006. Bruker AXS Inc. has acquired all of the shares of privately-held KeyMaster Technologies Inc. from KeyMaster's previous majority shareholder, Advent International, and other shareholders. KeyMaster Technologies, located in Kennewick, Washington, develops and manufactures portable hand-held X-ray fluorescence (XRF) systems for numerous applications.
Kroll acquires Homeland Solutions LLC, expands portfolio of services NEW YORK CITY, 24 July 2006. Kroll Inc., a global risk consulting company, has acquired Homeland Solutions LLC, a privately-held intelligence management consulting and analytical training company. Homeland Solutions develops and deploys counter-terrorism information-sharing networks used by U.S. law enforcement and intelligence communities.
